‘No Idea Who Voted’: GA County Official Says She Was Forced To Certify Election Without Crucial Docs

On November 12, 2024, the Fulton County Board of Registration and Election certified the election results amidst concerns about transparency and accuracy. Board member Julie Adams expressed that critical documentation, necessary for ensuring the integrity of the election, was not provided to them. Specifically, she and other members did not receive the Numbered List of Electors and Cast Votes Records, essential for confirming that the number of votes matched the number of registered voters.

Despite these concerns, they were compelled to certify the results due to a court ruling stating they could not refuse or abstain from certification. Adams mentioned she was only allowed limited access to some election data following the election, which did not allow for adequate analysis. She highlighted that the key documents needed for proper verification were missing, which fueled her unease about the certification process.

Adams noted that delays in obtaining election information were caused by the need to resolve issues with over 8,000 ballots. She voiced a concern that not voting "yes" on the certification could lead to legal repercussions for her, as she felt caught between the requirement to certify and her oath to ensure an accurate election process.

Adams emphasized that her questions about the fairness and transparency of the elections remained, regardless of the fact that her preferred candidate, Donald Trump, won. Historical issues in Fulton County, including previous instances of election irregularities, added to her worries about the election's integrity. Ultimately, she asserted the importance of free and transparent elections for the confidence of all voters and candidates.
