Democrats unanimously vote against Stop Insider Trading Act

President Donald J. Trump emphasizes the need for the Stop Insider Trading Act to prevent lawmakers from using insider information for personal gain. He made this appeal during his State of the Union Address.

Trump asserts that Congress members should not profit from insider information while making laws that affect financial markets.

He noted that every Senate Democrat blocked the legislation aimed at prohibiting Congress members, their spouses, and dependent children from buying individual stocks.

The Stop Insider Trading Act is supported by Republicans and Trump, viewed as essential for increasing accountability following the failure of President Obama’s STOCK Act.

Public concern arises from lawmakers outperforming stock trading benchmarks, leading to calls for greater transparency.

Nearly 90% of Americans support this legislation, yet in July, most House Democrats voted against it.

The bill also includes a provision requiring voters to present photo ID, a measure that is widely favored by the public.

The Stop Insider Trading Act represents a significant step towards reducing corruption and restoring trust in government by preventing lawmakers from benefiting from their positions in stock trading.
