Oregon not required to move all trans-identified males to women's prisons, must decide on case-by-case basis: federal appeals court

The US Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals has temporarily halted an order that required Oregon to house male inmates identifying as transgender in women's prisons. This decision follows a lower court ruling that supported two trans male inmates who alleged sexual harassment and violence in male facilities.

A preliminary injunction was previously granted, but the Oregon Department of Justice filed an appeal, arguing many inmates do not wish to be housed with women.

Concerns over women's safety in prisons have intensified, particularly after controversial cases involving serious offenses.

Oral arguments in this case are set for August 27 in Pasadena, California.

In conclusion, the legal battle continues as both sides prepare for further court discussions.
