Nancy Pelosi rages at ‘sexist and racist’ AI chatbot mocking her would-be successor

A parody AI chatbot called "Connie" was launched by California state Senator Scott Wiener to mock fellow Democrat Connie Chan, endorsed by Nancy Pelosi for her Congressional seat. Wiener’s bot, designed to refuse all requests, criticized Chan's reputation for blocking housing developments. Pelosi condemned the chatbot as "sexist," stating it misuses technology to undermine women's voices, particularly because Chan is a non-white woman.

Wiener initially defended the chatbot as a parody, claiming Pelosi's accusations were unfounded and a diversion from real issues. However, he eventually took the bot down, noting it had become a distraction from the campaign. He acknowledged that the focus had shifted from important topics to the chatbot itself.

The Chan campaign responded by stating that while Wiener could remove the chatbot, he could not erase concerns about his character and judgment. The ongoing tensions between Wiener and Pelosi have been evident, particularly with Pelosi endorsing Chan amid Wiener's aspirations for her seat.
