HHS Sec RFK Jr.: We’ve Been ‘Mass Poisoning’ Kids with Ultra-Processed Foods

During a segment on FNC's "The Ingraham Angle," Health and Human Services Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr. discussed the Trump administration's efforts to address childhood obesity through school lunches. He criticized the use of ultra-processed foods, characterizing it as "mass poisoning" of children.

Historical Context: Kennedy noted a significant increase in childhood obesity since his uncle's presidency, stating that it rose from 3% to 20%. He emphasized that many children are overweight and unable to qualify for military service.

New Guidelines: The plan aims to eliminate 70% of calories from ultra-processed foods in school meals. This includes replacing refined grains with whole grains and substituting fruit juices with whole fruits.

Support for Schools: The initiative will also provide $32 million in grants to help schools re-establish their kitchen facilities and prepare meals from scratch, similar to past practices.

Kennedy's proposal represents a comprehensive approach to mitigate the obesity crisis among children by reforming school lunch programs and promoting healthier food options.
