Ukraine Carries Out Strikes Against Iranian Targets As Conflict Widens

On July 25, 2026, Ukraine carried out drone strikes in the Caspian Sea, targeting vessels associated with military cargo transport between Iran and Russia. This action is part of a wider series of strikes against Russian targets.

Ukraine's President Volodymyr Zelensky announced successful long-range strikes against military-related vessels in the Caspian Sea, emphasizing the connection to Iran.

The Ukrainian Security Service (SBU) reported hitting the Filanovsky oil platform, and cargo vessels Port Olya 2 and Begey, which were sanctioned for their role in military transport.

Ukraine's ambassador to Israel characterized one of the struck vessels as carrying drone and missile components, claiming it was a legitimate military target.

In response, Iran’s Foreign Ministry condemned the strikes, calling them illegal and a violation of international law. They hinted at possible retaliation and summoned Ukraine’s diplomat to express their protest.

The strikes occurred amid heightened U.S. military activity against Iran, following the collapse of a ceasefire agreement and ongoing Iranian violations.

This escalation highlights the increasing tensions between Ukraine, Iran, and Russia and reflects a complex international conflict landscape.
