Mamdani’s Wife Fundraised for Gaza Then Never Donated the Money

Rama Duwaji Mamdani, the wife of New York Mayor Zohran Mamdani. Duwaji organized a fundraising effort aimed at supporting Gaza through T-shirt sales. Allegations arise regarding her failure to donate the proceeds to the intended charity.

Rama Duwaji Mamdani sold T-shirts to raise money for Dahnoun Mutual Aid, a group claiming to assist displaced Palestinians.

Over $1 million was raised online for Dahnoun, but Duwaji reportedly did not send the promised $2,000 from her T-shirt sales to the charity.

Numerous attempts by the platform Everpress to contact Duwaji for banking information required to disburse the funds were reportedly ignored.

Duwaji had previously designed the T-shirt in 2024, raising questions about her commitment to sending the funds, especially given the charity's stated urgent needs.

A spokesperson from Mamdani’s office stated that the funds never reached Duwaji and still sit with Everpress, emphasizing that she did not keep the money.

Duwaji's past actions have drawn criticism, including her support of controversial statements and ideologies that perpetuate anti-Jewish sentiments.

The situation raises concerns about accountability and the sincerity of fundraising efforts intended to help those in Gaza. The delayed transfer of funds and previous controversial endorsements by Duwaji have led to skepticism regarding her dedication to promoting aid for the people she claims to support. This incident highlights the broader narrative surrounding political motives and actions in humanitarian efforts.
