BMW Group has announced a significant investment to enhance its manufacturing operations in South Carolina, reinforcing its commitment to the U. S. market.
● BMW is investing $1.7 billion in its South Carolina facilities, including a $1 billion upgrade at Plant Spartanburg and a new $700 million battery assembly facility in Woodruff.
● This expansion will support the production of next-generation electric BMW X models, including the fully electric iX5, which is set to begin production in late 2026.
● Plant Spartanburg is BMW's largest global site and assembles several X models for both U. S. and international customers.
● BMW has a strong export record from the U. S., exporting nearly 3 million vehicles from 2014 to 2025 worth over $113 billion.
The investment underscores BMW's long-term strategy in the U. S. and its focus on electric vehicle production.
