Iran’s Academic Fifth Column in the U.S.

There is growing concern about the presence of pro-Iran academics in American universities. These individuals are seen as supporting the Islamic Republic of Iran while downplaying its nuclear ambitions and promoting a peaceful image of the country.

1. Political Influence: Some professors, like Kaveh Afrasiabi, have been accused of acting as unregistered agents for Iran, promoting its interests without transparency.

2. Academia’s Iran Lobby: Many academics continue to advocate for Iran, driven more by anti-Israel sentiments and criticisms of U. S. foreign policy than genuine concern for the Iranian people.

3. Ideological Support: The relationship between Iranian politics and academic advocacy for Iran strengthens this lobby, which opposes Israel and U. S. military actions.

4. Exposure and Accountability: It’s essential to expose these academics' anti-American and anti-Israel activities, whether through their teaching, publications, or media appearances.

Academics have faced repercussions for their support of the Iranian regime, showcasing that tenure may not protect them from consequences. University officials should monitor faculty for activities that support harmful ideologies or antisemitism, following the examples set by cases like Shirin Saedi's dismissal after her controversial comments.
