DOJ Fires Prosecutors Who Weaponized FACE Act Against Pro-Life Activists Under Biden

The Department of Justice (DOJ) has taken significant actions regarding the Freedom of Access to Clinic Entrances (FACE) Act, particularly in relation to pro-life activists.

• The DOJ has fired multiple prosecutors for allegedly abusing the FACE Act against pro-life individuals during the Biden administration.

• Reports indicate at least four prosecutors were dismissed, including Sanjay Patel, who was instrumental in targeting pro-life activists by combining the FACE Act with a civil rights conspiracy charge.

• The FACE Act, enacted in 1994, is intended to protect both abortion clinics and pro-life centers. Despite this, 97% of FACE Act cases have targeted pro-life activists.

• A newly released, detailed report by the DOJ reviews about 700,000 internal records, revealing biased enforcement and collaboration with pro-abortion groups, aiming for harsher penalties against pro-life advocates.

• Acting Deputy Attorney General Todd Blanche emphasized a commitment to a fair justice system, ensuring that political beliefs will not influence prosecutions in the future.

The DOJ's recent changes reflect an effort to address past imbalances in the enforcement of the FACE Act and to restore integrity to the prosecutorial process in the United States.
