Supermajority of Voters Support Health and Medical Freedom, Poll Shows

Zogby Strategies shows a strong majority of voters in favor of health and medical freedom. This survey, initiated by the Health Freedom Defense Fund and the Brownstone Institute, aims to gather public opinion on individual rights regarding health care decisions, particularly in light of recent controversies surrounding vaccines and medical policies.

• General Concerns: The debate around health care freedoms is intense, with medical freedom advocates believing that individuals should have ultimate authority over their own healthcare choices, without interference from government or businesses.

• Polling Approach: Unlike many polls that reflect biased views from established political groups, this poll posed straightforward questions to better capture genuine public sentiment concerning health and medical issues.

• Survey Scope: Conducted from February 26-27, 2026, the poll surveyed 1,000 registered voters, with a diverse political representation (37% Republican, 36% Democrat, and 27% Independent). The margin of error was +/- 3.2 percentage points.

• Major Findings:

• Support for Medical Choices:

• 87.9% agree on the right to refuse medical treatment.

• 87.2% believe medical choices are a basic human right protected by law.

• Freedom of Speech for Doctors: 88.1% agree that doctors should openly discuss vaccine concerns without fear of repercussions.

• Insurance Coverage: 76.1% support health insurance covering chosen treatments, including alternative options.

• Vaccine Refusal Rights: 80.4% agree adults should have the right to refuse vaccines.

• Protection from Employment Discrimination: 70.6% agree that personal medical choices should not result in employment loss.

• Parental Rights Regarding Vaccines: 65.7% agree parents should have the right to refuse vaccines for their children.

• School Vaccine Mandates:

• Only 54.5% of respondents believe parents should be able to opt their children out of school mandates. However, support increases among parents with children under 17 to 66.7%.

• Judgment on COVID-19 Policies:

• 61.9% believe COVID-19 lockdowns caused significant damage to society, showing a shift in public perception toward retrospective criticism of these measures.

• Desire for Vaccine Safety Research:

• 68.6% approve of further research into vaccine safety, particularly regarding ingredients like thimerosal and aluminum.

The poll indicates a notable trend toward supporting personal freedoms and medical autonomy among voters, especially regarding healthcare decisions, vaccine policies, and transparency in medical practices. Majorities indicate a critical stance toward past COVID-19 measures and a heightened interest in investigating vaccine safety. Overall, these results suggest that voters value their rights and are inclined to support candidates advocating for health freedom, honesty, and accountability in healthcare. The poll demonstrates that, when presented with clear, straightforward questions, a significant portion of the electorate favors individual empowerment in medical decisions—aligning closely with core American values.
