When It Comes to Climate and Energy, Let’s Retire the Politics of Fear

Recently, a report from Copernicus indicated that 2025 was the third-warmest year in modern history, reinforcing the trend of rising global temperatures. The report attributes these temperature increases primarily to greenhouse gases from burning fossil fuels, sparking discussions about energy policies.

1. Temperature Records: The last eleven years have been the warmest on record, with 2025 averaging 1.47 degrees Celsius higher than temperatures from 1850 to 1900.

2. Public Reaction: Many people are becoming skeptical of climate change alarmism. A Pew Research Center report shows declining trust in scientists, particularly post-COVID-19, with only 28% of U. S. adults expressing high confidence in scientists' integrity.

3. Economic Implications: Affordable energy is crucial for economic prosperity. Low energy costs allow manufacturers to produce goods more competitively and lower transportation expenses, ultimately benefiting consumers and stimulating economic growth.

4. Political Manipulation of Science: The politicization of science, seen in climate change debates and COVID-19 guidelines, has eroded public trust. It is argued that pushing partisan agendas can harm everyday people economically.

5. Proposed Solutions: The Affordable, Reliable, Clean Energy Security Act (ARC-ES) is suggested as a legislative remedy to ensure access to low-cost energy and remove politicized manipulation from the energy sector.

There needs to be a focus on scientific integrity over political fear tactics. The passage of ARC-ES could help stabilize energy costs and restore public trust in energy policy, moving past current divisive narratives.
