Inspector General confirms whistleblower complaint against Tulsi Gabbard ‘did not appear credible’

The Intelligence Community Inspector General (IC IG) recently addressed a whistleblower complaint against Tulsi Gabbard, the Director of National Intelligence. The complaint alleged that Gabbard had improperly restricted the distribution of a sensitive intelligence report for political reasons. The Inspector General's findings confirmed that the complaint was not credible.

• The whistleblower's complaint was filed on May 25, 2025, claiming Gabbard delayed necessary security guidance to prevent the complaint from being sent to Congress.

• Acting Inspector General Tamara Johnson initially deemed the complaint worthy of investigation, referring to it as an "urgent concern" under the Intelligence Community Whistleblower Protection Act.

• However, after reviewing new evidence on June 9, Johnson concluded that the allegations against Gabbard did not appear credible.

• The current Inspector General, Christopher Fox, confirmed these findings and provided new details about the case in a letter to congressional leaders.

• Gabbard's deputy chief of staff issued a statement claiming the whistleblower's complaint was politically motivated and intended to create misleading narratives, similar to past allegations against Donald Trump.

• The Inspector General expressed disagreement with the earlier assessment that the complaint had met the definition of "urgent concern" after his own review.

• Gabbard stated that she was unaware of the need to provide security guidance for the whistleblower's complaint and offered to assist once she learned of the requirement.

The Inspector General's investigation found that the claims against Tulsi Gabbard lacked credibility. This situation reflects ongoing concerns about the political motivations behind such whistleblower complaints, drawing comparisons to past controversies involving allegations against former President Trump. The case emphasizes the importance of thorough investigations into claims of misconduct within the Intelligence Community.
