Anti-ICE, church storming activist took home over $1 MILLION from anti-poverty nonprofit she led

Nekima Levy Armstrong, a leftist activist, has gained attention both for her activism and her financial compensation while leading the Wayfinder Foundation, a nonprofit focused on anti-poverty work.

• Armstrong received over $1 million in compensation from the Wayfinder Foundation during her tenure from 2019 to 2024.

• While she earned around $936,395 in salary, additional benefits brought her total compensation to more than $1.1 million, according to tax filings.

• In contrast, the foundation distributed only about $700,052 in grants to community initiatives throughout the same period.

• Significant contributors to Wayfinder included the Walton Family Foundation, which donated $2.34 million, and the Black Lives Matter Global Network Foundation.

• Armstrong has faced criticism for organizing a disruptive protest at Cities Church in St. Paul, which led to a federal investigation by the Department of Justice.

• She is currently the founder and CEO of a cannabis company named Dope Roots.

Armstrong's financial compensation and her role in activism have attracted scrutiny, highlighting discussions around nonprofit leadership and community impact.
