Recent polling shows that more American voters support President Donald Trump's decision to label Antifa as a terror organization than those who oppose it. According to the Center Square Voters' Voice Poll, 49% of voters favor the designation, while 30% are against it, and 21% are uncertain. A significant majority of Republicans, 80%, support the label, compared to only 20% of Democrats.
The president made the designation last month following an increase in political violence, particularly the assassination of conservative activist Charlie Kirk. Since then, the administration has pointed to various violent incidents linked to Antifa, including attacks on Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) personnel and locations. The Department of Justice recently announced that terrorism charges were filed against suspects involved in a July attack on an ICE facility in Texas.
The White House described Antifa as a "militarist, anarchist enterprise" aiming to overthrow the U. S. government using violence and terrorism. It accuses the group of obstructing federal law enforcement and conducting organized riots. The designation allows law enforcement to use federal resources to investigate and counteract Antifa's activities.
The president also requested that Secretary of State Marco Rubio look into classifying Antifa as a foreign terror organization. The poll, conducted from October 2 to 6, 2025, included 2,565 participants and has a margin of error of +/-2.0%.
