House Democrat Leader Hakeem Jeffries called on New Jersey’s 17 U.S. district judges (15 of whom are Democrat-appointed by Presidents Obama and Biden) to effectively fire Alina Habba, New Jersey’s U.S. Attorney. The reason? She brought an indictment against a Democrat House Member, who allegedly attacked federal officers. Article III Project just filed this House ethics complaint against Jeffries. More on that below, but first, some news updates for the week:
You may remember a few months back, NJ Democrat Congresswoman LaMonica McIver interfered with federal officers while they were making an arrest at an ICE facility. She was captured on video assaulting a federal officer. Habba, a strong legal ally of President Trump, simply enforced the law when she brought charges against her. Last month, a grand jury indicted McIver. A House Member—particularly the top House Democrat leader—who disagrees with the merits of a pending criminal case abuses his official position when he attempts to pressure federal judges to prejudice the ongoing criminal proceeding by firing the U.S. Attorney. Jeffries wants to protect a partisan House colleague. Our complaint calls on the House Ethics Committee to take all appropriate actions to hold Jeffries accountable. |
