Report: $128 million in federal grants spent on gender ideology under Biden-Harris

An analysis by the American Principles Project (APP) reveals that over $128 million in federal taxpayer funds has been allocated to support gender ideology initiatives under the Biden administration. This summary outlines the findings regarding the grants and contracts awarded by various federal agencies.

• The APP identified the grants by reviewing the USA Spending database, categorizing data by federal agency.

• A total of at least 341 grants were awarded for gender ideology, with the U. S. Department of Health and Human Services providing nearly $84 million through 60 grants.

• The Department of State issued the most grants, totaling more than $14 million across 209 grants.

• Other agencies contributing to these grants include:

• U. S. Agency for International Development: nearly $18 million through 8 grants

• National Endowment for the Humanities: over $2. 6 million through 20 grants

• Department of Justice: $1. 9 million through 3 grants

• Institute of Museum and Library Services: $1. 87 million through 13 grants

• Department of Education: $1. 67 million through 2 grants

• Department of Agriculture: $1. 6 million through 5 grants

• Department of the Interior: over $1 million through 2 grants

• U. S. Department of Housing and Urban Development: over $548,000 through 4 grants

• Inter-American Foundation: over $490,000 through 2 grants

• National Endowment for the Arts: $262,000 through 13 grants.

• APP also reported on 63 federal agency contracts promoting gender ideology, totaling more than $46 million, primarily through USAID ($31 million) and the Department of Defense ($4. 4 million).

• Significant grants identified include:

• $3. 9 million to Key Populations Consortium Uganda for LGBTQI+ safety and well-being.

• $3. 5 million to Outright International for promoting LGBTQI+ rights globally.

• $2. 4 million to the International Rescue Committee for inclusive humanitarian assistance.

• $1. 9 million to the American Bar Association for LGBTQI+ protection in the Western Balkans.

• $1. 4 million for economic empowerment of LGBTQI+ individuals in Serbia.

• $1. 49 million to the Equality for All Foundation in Jamaica to strengthen LGBT rights advocacy.

• Over $1 million to Bandhu Social Welfare Society to support gender diverse individuals in Bangladesh.

• One grant of $600,000, aimed at researching menstruation and menopause among various gender identities, was eventually cancelled.

The analysis highlights the significant federal investment in gender ideology initiatives, raising questions about the allocation of taxpayer funds. The report underscores the diversity of agencies involved and the specific projects funded under these initiatives. All federal funding decisions were made by Congress through budget approvals and continuing resolutions.
