It Sure Looks Like the Trump Admin Just Outfoxed the Judge Trying to Block Pro-Hamas Leader's Deportation

The Trump administration has detained Mahmoud Khalil, a pro-Hamas activist, sparking anger among far-left groups. The Department of Homeland Security plans to revoke his green card and deport him due to his public support for terrorism.

• Khalil, from Syria, is linked to antisemitic activities at Columbia University, where he helped organize Hamas supporters in illegal occupations.

• His legal custody was challenged by Judge Jesse M. Furman, who blocked his deportation and called for legal representation.

• Reports suggest that Khalil has been moved to an ICE detention center in Louisiana, which may prevent Furman from having jurisdiction over the case, as legal petitions must be filed in the district where the individual is held.

• Legal experts believe the move aims to circumvent the Southern District of New York’s control over the habeas corpus petition.

It appears that the Trump administration may have strategically maneuvered around Judge Furman’s order, leaving Khalil's deportation still possible.
