House Republicans Are Going After Weakened ActBlue in Earnest

House Republicans are intensifying their investigation into ActBlue, a fundraising platform for Democrats, over concerns of possible fraudulent activities. They are seeking assistance from the Trump administration to address the issue.

• Since 2023, alternative media have called for an investigation into ActBlue due to alleged misuse of the platform for illegal activities.

• On March 10, Republican Congress members, including Rep. Bryan Steil and Rep. James Comer, wrote to Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent about suspicious actions related to ActBlue.

• Their letter expresses concerns over individuals exploiting online contribution platforms, particularly ActBlue, for fraud and campaign finance law violations.

• They requested all "Suspicious Activity Reports" associated with ActBlue since January 1, 2023, focusing on issues like money laundering, credit card fraud, and identity theft.

• Reports indicate ActBlue is experiencing "internal chaos," with senior staff resignations and indications of retaliation against remaining employees.

• Rep. Steil emphasized the need for improved safeguards in online campaign finance systems and is eager to review the requested Suspicious Activity Reports.

The push by House Republicans to investigate ActBlue reflects concerns about election security and potential widespread voter fraud. The outcome of this investigation could have significant implications as elections approach.
