ActBlue Probes May Shut Down DNC Money Laundry

ActBlue, a fundraising platform for the Democratic Party, faces severe scrutiny due to suspected fraud, including identity theft and credit card fraud. Investigations by the House Committee on Oversight and Accountability and nineteen state attorneys general have raised concerns about its financial practices.

• Before the recent election, the House Committee requested Suspicious Activity Reports (SARs) from former Treasury Secretary Janet Yellen regarding ActBlue, but little action occurred.

• New Secretary Scott Bessent is now cooperating with the investigation, which may explain the departure of seven top ActBlue officials in February.

• Allegations surface that ActBlue may allow "smurfing," a type of identity theft where small donors' names are used without their consent to mask larger contributions, thus avoiding federal reporting requirements.

• Investigations have highlighted implausible contribution patterns, with individuals purportedly making thousands of donations, raising suspicion about the legitimacy of these transactions.

• State attorneys general have expressed concerns over ActBlue's platform being potentially used for money laundering by disguising large donations as many small ones.

• The questioning of the source of contributions suggests that ActBlue may be funded predominantly by wealthy donors rather than average citizens.

The ongoing investigations and findings regarding ActBlue could jeopardize its operations and highlight broader issues in political fundraising practices. With increasing scrutiny, questions remain about who will support the Democratic Party if ActBlue collapses.
