Big Pharma is no friend to the Trump agenda or the pocketbooks of the American people. Big Pharma opposed solutions to lower drug prices in President Trump’s first term and opposed RFK Jr’s nomination in this administration.
Big Pharma sets the price of drugs. Big Pharma’s anti-competitive tactics block competition to keep drug prices high – and their outrageous spending on advertising to consumers pushes their high-priced, brand-name drugs on the American people, even when they may not need those medications, some that have terrible side effects.
Now, they’re trying to pull off a huge money grab – at least $22 billion in increased profits – from American employers and the American people, telling Congress to undermine pay-for-performance incentives in the private health care market that help employers and the patients whose insurance they sponsor secure savings on their prescription drugs.
Big Pharma’s scheme targeting the private health care market would increase their power to keep prices high, pad their profits by billions of dollars and hike health care costs for American businesses and families.
