Joe Biden spoke to the nation from Camp David after a terrorist attack in New Orleans that resulted in at least 15 deaths and 35 injuries. The attacker, a 42-year-old named Shamsud Din Jabbar, drove through a crowd during New Year’s Eve celebrations. Law enforcement indicated that Jabbar was part of a larger group of terrorists.
Before heading to Camp David, Biden briefly spoke with reporters and delivered what many considered an unhelpful statement regarding the attack. He mentioned he had communicated with various agencies, including the CIA and FBI, expressing “anger and frustration. ”
Later that evening, Biden gave a public address, but he seemed disoriented and struggled with his prepared speech. He revealed that Jabbar had posted online videos showing his ISIS inspiration and a wish to kill just hours before the attack. Biden also labeled the situation as “very fluid” and stated that the FBI was leading the investigation.
However, Biden did not take any questions from the press about the terrorist attack and left the lectern without further engagement.
