Alexander Vindman Slams Mike Waltz Plan to Clear Deep Staters from National Security Council

Retired Lt. Col. Alexander Vindman criticized the National Security Adviser Mike Waltz's plan to remove all intelligence officials detailed to the National Security Council (NSC) from the federal government. Vindman reacted to Waltz's interview, where he mentioned that these officials would need to leave by 12:01 p. m. Eastern on January 20, when President-elect Donald Trump is inaugurated.

Vindman stated that Waltz's directive aimed to eliminate staffers who were serving in non-partisan roles to ensure loyalty to Trump's policies. Waltz referenced Vindman's role in exposing Trump's abuse of power during his first impeachment as part of his justification for this purge. Vindman argued that this action was not due to the professional conduct of these individuals but rather a demand for blind allegiance to Trump.

In the interview, it was explained how the NSC operates, with the National Security Adviser overseeing political appointees and career officials from various agencies. These officials support the president's decisions in a wide range of security issues. Waltz added that Vindman’s concerns were misplaced, suggesting that the issues arose not during the transition period but afterward.

Vindman clarified that he served as a non-political detailee and supported Trump’s national security agenda. He emphasized that his refusal to remain silent about Trump's actions, which he viewed as criminal, resulted in his dismissal. Vindman refused to undermine his oath to the Constitution, leading to his departure from the NSC.
