The Dems Aren’t Finished Hatching Schemes to Keep Trump From Taking Office

Throughout the 2024 campaign, Democrats argued that voting for Kamala Harris was essential to prevent Donald Trump from taking office, claiming he posed a danger to democracy. Critics describe this narrative as unfounded and attribute the tactics of accusing opponents of their own wrongdoing to the Biden-Harris administration, which has taken measures against opposition to its policies. Following a significant electoral defeat, Democrats are allegedly still devising plans to obstruct Trump's return.

Political analyst Mark Halperin warns that efforts to stop Trump from assuming office will increase as his inauguration approaches. He compares this prediction to the certainty of the sunrise. The notion that progressive individuals may likely want to suppress dissent is also cited by David Horowitz. Halperin emphasizes that these predictions serve as an expected response, considering the current political climate.

Recent articles by liberal attorneys suggest Congress can still block Trump on January 20 by rejecting electoral votes, invoking the 14th Amendment based on claims of insurrection, despite Trump not being charged with such actions. Critics point out that the argument lacks grounding, as Trump has not committed any act of insurrection, nor has he faced charges.

The continued discussion around the 14th Amendment indicates ongoing attempts by leftists to find ways to prevent Trump's presidency. Halperin suggests that these discussions come as a reaction to the surprising election results and may become more common as January 20 approaches.

Halperin raises concerns about why such articles are published, acknowledging that they potentially reflect a mindset shared by many. Nevertheless, the argument about insurrection has not gained traction in the past, as Trump has not been accused or convicted of leading or supporting an insurrection.

The fear among some commentators is that the political landscape is highly politicized, allowing schemes against Trump to possibly unfold without significant pushback from institutions like the military or justice system. Observers note that the media may praise any attempts to prevent Trump from taking office, framing them as heroic actions to protect democracy.

While it is suggested that these actions could occur, there are doubts about their likelihood. The anticipation of ongoing resistance against Trump raises concerns about the robustness of American democracy and highlights a struggle against continuous attempts to undermine political opposition. It appears that the left is not ready to concede defeat in the ongoing political battle as they remain vigilant against Trump and his supporters.
