Healthcare's Hidden and Unnecessary Fees

Experiences like Tim Ebel's are unfolding every day, all across our nation and they highlight an urgent problem with our healthcare system: a gross lack of transparency which leads to out-of-control healthcare costs that have nothing to do with the care provided.

These outrageous fees cannot be contested by the patients, and insurance does not cover them.

A health sharing ministry focused on connecting members to ethical, comprehensive, affordable healthcare, has seen many patients hit with unnecessary, surprise fees.

Often these fees can be avoided if patients are equipped with the proper resources and tools to navigate the healthcare system.

Most often, patients do not know about the unnecessary charges baked into their healthcare costs, much less avoid them, because the industry is rife with a lack of transparency.

It is impossible to avoid hidden and unnecessary fees when patients are unable to find out what they will be charged upfront.

Chris Faddis is president of Solidarity HealthShare, a healthcare sharing ministry guided by the moral teachings of the Catholic Church that negotiates directly with providers to ensure delivery of high-quality and affordable, life-affirming healthcare for the more than 46,000 Members it has served since 2016.
