Billionaire technology mogul Elon Musk will move his SpaceX operations entirely out of California and into Texas after Governor Gavin Newsom announced he has signed AB1955 into law.
The legislation bans schools from enacting rules that would require the notification of parents if a child identifies as transgender-effectively substituting the state for family.
"This is the final straw," Musk said in a post on X-the social media platform he purchased in 2022.
He added: "Because of this law and the many others that preceded it, attacking both families and companies, SpaceX will now move its HQ from Hawthorne, California, to Starbase, Texas."
Subscribe here Musk added, in a separate post: "I did make it clear to Governor Newsom about a year ago that laws of this nature would force families and companies to leave California to protect their children."Under the new law, California school districts will no longer be allowed to notify parents if their child begins using different pronouns or self-recognizes as a different gender.
The law makes the state the first to bar school districts from sharing pertinent information with parents regarding their children.
Earlier this year, California's Democrat Attorney General Rob Bonta issued a legal advisory to schools in the state warning that informing parents of their children's decision to use different pronouns or change their gender-without the child's permission-likely violated the state constitution.
