Biden References Jan 6 In Oval Office Address Following Trump Rally Shooting

President Biden referenced the January 6 Capitol protests and the kidnapping plot against Michigan Governor Gretchen Whitmer - a plot that included 12 FBI informants - in his Oval Office address following the assassination attempt on former President Donald Trump.

"Yesterday's shooting at Donald Trump's rally in Pennsylvania calls on all of us to take a step back. Take stock of where we are, how we go forward from here. Thankfully, former Trump is not seriously injured. I spoke to him last night. I'm grateful he's doing well, and Jill and I keep him and his family in our prayers," Biden began in his Oval Office address.

Crooks was killed by Secret Service snipers after firing no more than 10 shots at former President Trump from roughly 130 yards away.

"Violence has never been the answer. Whether it's with members of Congress of both parties being targeted and shot, or a violent mob attacking the Capitol on January 6th, or a brutal attack on the spouse of former Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi, or information and intimidation on election officials, or the kidnapping plot against the sitting governor, or an attempted assassination on Donald Trump. There is no place in America for this kind of violence, for any violence ever. Period. No exceptions," Biden said.

"It's part of human nature. But politics must never be a literal battlefield, and God forbid, a killing field. I believe politics ought to be an arena for peaceful debate, to pursue justice, to make decisions guided by the Declaration of Independence and our Constitution. to make decisions guided by the Declaration of Independence and our Constitution. We stand for an America, not of extremism and fury, but of decency and grace." Former President Trump was released from a Pittsburgh area hospital last night after being treated for a wound to his ear.

Slowed down video shows the moment Trump turned his head just a fraction of a second before impact, causing the bullet to graze his ear.

Trump did concede that he considered pushing his trip to Milwaukee back a couple days, though he ultimately decided that he, "Cannot allow a 'shooter,' or potential assassin, to force change to scheduling, or anything else." Trump then announced that he was on his way to Milwaukee and was seen landing in the city a few hours later.
