A Golden State Realignment?

Some 62 percent told pollsters the state was headed in the wrong direction, up from 37 percent in 2020.

Governor Newsom finds himself increasingly unpopular with state voters.

In the past, those who flocked to the Golden State brought diverse political views.

California voters routinely state that housing is their biggest concern.

These two groups already constitute a majority of state residents and roughly 40 percent of likely voters.

The governor also has backed ideas for new state bonds to finance his climate program while proposing cuts on state support for public safety.

Political change in the Golden State takes time, but the prospects are better now than at any time in decades.
