A member of the United States Secret Service was robbed at gunpoint in Orange County, California, on Saturday and discharged their firearm during the incident.
It is unclear whether the agent involved was a member of Joe Biden's traveling security detail.
"A member of the U.S. Secret Service was the victim of an armed robbery in Tustin, California, late Saturday when returning from a work assignment," the USSS said in a statement following the incident.
They added: "The employee discharged their service weapon during the incident but unknown if the assailants were struck. We are thankful that the employee did not sustain any injuries." NEWSLETTER Need to Know.
This marks the latest unwanted publicity for the president's protective service.
The National Pulse reported in late April that a member of Kamala Harris's Secret Service detail was involved in a physical fight with her superior.
Agents within the service had raised numerous concerns regarding Herczeg's erratic behavior and history.
