POLITICS Arizona Refuses to Comply With Biden Demand to Remove Makeshift Border Wall

Arizona's Department of Emergency and Military Affairs is refusing a demand by the Biden administration to remove the shipping containers they are using to close gaps in the wall at the southern border. It says it won't do so until the U.S. moves to construct a permanent barrier.

Arizona Refuses to Remove Shipping Containers

  • The letter comes in response to a demand by the Biden administration to remove the shipping containers that are being used to seal up gaps in the border wall near Yuma
  • Arizona claims the containers are trespassing on its and the Cocopah Indian Tribe's lands

The Biden Administration Demands Arizona Stop Doing the Federal Government's Job on the Border

  • The Bureau indicates contracts have been awarded to close the gaps in question and they 'anticipate' awarding more.
  • As such, they insisted the containers be removed so the project can continue "without unnecessary delay."

Arizona Has Had Enough

  • Governor Doug Ducey issued an executive order to seal up gaps in the border wall in August
  • Meaning the White House had no less than 18 months to get those contracts awarded and pushed out to start construction.
  • Now they want Arizona to tear down what they've constructed just so contractors can come in and do the job that President Biden halted in the first place
