Chris Wray Put FBI on High Alert After Scouring Gateway Pundit and Flagging 1 Comment Out of 35,000 Daily Comments Following Mar-a-Lago Raid

Following the unprecedented raid on Mar-a-Lago, the FBI feared retribution from the American public for their ongoing partisan attacks on President Trump

  • The FBI was put on high alert following the raid due to protests planned at its offices
  • They scoured social media to identify threats to FBI buildings and agents

The FBI also flagged a comment posted by a commenter at The Gateway Pundit.

  • The comment was in response to an article published two days after the raid on August 10th, and received hundreds of responses from patriots.
  • The commenter "Praying4DCTsunami" wrote that the protest would be "target practice time using FBI agents who have not quit."

The next day, Chris Wray issued a statement condemning abuse and threats

  • The Gateway Pundit does not allow abusive, racist, anti-Semitic, or nasty, hateful comments on their site.
  • Average daily average of over 35,000 comments on the site.

On Aug. 10, 2022, Richard Cline, FPS's principal deputy director, sent an email to Randolph "Tex" Alles, a top DHS official, along with intel "reporting a spike in expressed social media threats against the FBI and to a lesser extent, other government and law enforcement agencies."

  • Earlier that day, an FPS intelligence officer flagged a comment left on the far-right website The Gateway Pundit that said
